These are the correct brakes for 1990's mountain bikes with 990 mounts and mid-school BMX race bikes (many bikes used cantilever brakes from about 1993-1996). For MTB, these calipers work for either front or rear.
If you get these for an Mid School BMX bike with cantilever back brakes they will work - a little different because the spring does not go into the bike (into one of the three holes) - you just tighten down the bolt and the tensinon is all internal. I thought that these were not going to work and had to research until I found one thread that explainded this. This is why I am writing this - you would think that this would be in the description. Great looking brake non the less!
